Integration by Lighting and Technology – High level lectures at Richter
Saturday afternoon, November 23, 2024 – event time at Richter. Two visionaries on lighting design came from New York to Richter in Heubach: Enrique Peiniger from “Office for Visual Interaction” (OVI) and James Carpenter from the light and architecture planning studio of the same name (JCDA). Both lighting specialists presented some of the projects within the scope of the event Richter invited to: “Integration by Lighting and Technology”. Both speakers provided some insights to the audience about which way of thinking is applied for planning modern architecture and holistic light planning. Like Richter, OVI and Studio James Carpenter collaborate with big international architecture offices, such as Zaha Hadid Architects or Foster + Partners. Their projects like the light patio at the German Office for Foreign Affairs in Berlin (JCDA) or the building of Scottish parliament (OVI) convincingly show how lighting, technology, and architecture harmonically combine.
155 guests, including amongst others Prof. Lucio Blandini from the University of Stuttgart, Germany or a member of German Bundestag, Dr. Inge Gräßle (CDU) and many board members and decision makers from companies both local and nation-wide did not only listen to the lectures. In order to promote interaction and networking between the visitors, Richter developed an AI-supported tool which analyzes the guests’ strengths and interests. From these pieces of information, each guest received three suggestions for other guests with compatible profile. Hence, during the get-together party after the lectures, many conversational partners found their counterpart for good discussions and networking.
Besides establishing new personal contacts, the participants debated many topics of future strategy. Bernd Richter who founded Richter lighting technologies together with his wife Marion and who is still CEO of the family business, is very satisfied with the outcome of the event. “We work hard to enable the local companies to combine their powers in order to have improved standing in global markets.” For him, each new opportunity, for instance artificial intelligence (AI) applications, is another chance. He does not feel threatened by new technologies at all. “We have a look at new approaches and decide how to handle them and where we identify applications”, he says. For him, it is important to be open-minded and to exchange information. The event at Richter had the very same scope. Richter puts great effort to create a forum for this interchange where clever brains and innovative companies meet to shape the future – both regionally and internationally.
